Stockton Con 2014 montage

Whaaaat?  This is totally uploaded in 2014 and not 2015, and is most definitely not super late.  Hahahahahaha….yeeeeah I know it’s late.  Better late than never eh?  Just in time too, I would NOT want to upload this after Stocktoncon 2015 comes and goes. 

Anyways, after wearing the Shard suit for the first time at Sonic Revolution 2014 I made a few adjustments to the suit so nothing would fall off.  The only problem is I constantly have to repair bits here and there in terms of duct tape, especially at the joints where the duct tape rubs together.  So far it’s nothing I can’t handle.  That’s just the nature of a duct tape costume.

Every year, the costume contest never ceases to amaze me.  Everyone who entered did a fantastic job like last year, and I can tell a load of creativity went into a lot of the costumes.  I decided to enter the Shard suit in Stocktoncon’s 2nd costume contest, because I wanted to see how well it would do up against a bigger amount of people.  The whole experience was definitely worth it in the end, because I got 2^nd place!

Placing in two costume contests in 2014 was definitely a confidence booster for me.  I had the opportunity to talk to some fellow artists at the convention, and I’ve put their advice into practice.  It’ll be a while before I enter into another costume contest.  Though when I do, I plan to create a costume that’s even crazier than the Shard suit.  Perhaps an Omega suit with glowing eyes and moveable hands (I’d REALLY want to do that some day)?  Who knows…

Before I wrap this up I’d like to give a huge thank you to God for keeping me patient during the whole process of making the Shard suit (it took about 9 months to make the entire thing!). 

An incredible thank you to all my art teachers.  Without their guidance and encouragement I would not have the skill to create what I can today. 

And I’d like to give a special thank you to my friends who went to the convention with me.  To my surprise, I needed a lot of help in that costume.  I couldn’t even scratch my nose, wipe the sweat off of my face, or drink water!  So my friends did that for me, as well as making sure no one bumped into the back of my spikes.  You guys rock!
